I have IDT540 course. At that course, I planed a Chinese Pinyin lesson within
one hour. Now I’m trying to use multimedia sources and Web 2.0 technology
to active my young learners. For this final project, I will use PBWorks to help
me facilitate knowledge to my learners at anywhere and anytime.
In the workplace, I will post the text content about how to pronounce Chinese
alphabets. Then I will give urls’ to pronunciation video that they can know if they
say these alphabets in the right way. After they checked videos, they will give me audio or video feedback about their own sound. Secondly, I will post some quiz
in the workplace. My young learners should do quiz that I can know if they really
realize Pinyin. Also, I can correct their answers at the workplace. They can ask me
questions at the workplace after I give their sound feedback and quiz feedback.
Also, they can share other helpful resources at this workplace.
According to their activities at this workplace, I can know more
specific information about my learners than traditional way.

Report
During this week, I finished my Chinese lesson and post it on PBWorks. Now I have two students enjoyed this activity now. This is the first time for them learned initials and finals. They followed the audio to practice how to pronounce these alphabets. Totally, there are 59 alphabets including initials and finals. They felt a little difficult to memorize the pronunciation of these alphabets when they first to listen the audio. They should listen again and again to remember them. I told them that I did the same way when I learned Pinyin through my childhood. They told me they will not do the quiz now, they want to do it after memorized initials and finals. So I gave them more time to prepare this quiz. Also, I will invite two more learners to join this activity.
Update!
For this week, I found four learners to view this activity. Two are young kids and others are adult learners. The first student said to me that the quiz part will be better if it is the paper style. It is difficult to mark four tone on wiki stage. The second student said that three videos really helps her lots about how to pronounce initials and finals. They told me that they need more time to practice and remember these 58 syllables. This is a short activity, but my learners need more time to repeat and repeat that they can memorize these alphabets quickly. At the bottom, I gave them some links. They can view these websites. I think these links will give them more expanded ideas that they can help them easily recognize Chinese Pinyin.
